The Office of the National Coordinator for Health IT (ONC) is driving the development and adoption of data standards to harmonize and accelerate data collection and sharing for research and care. In addition to clinical and genomic data, ONC is also focused on advancing health IT standards to support mobile health, wearables, and social determinates of health data in support of the National Institutes of Health (NIH’s) “All of Us” Research Program. This is a nationwide effort to enable over a million participants to share clinical, genetic, environmental, lifestyle, and other data, and help develop individualized care through advances in research, technology and policies that empower patients and create a new generation of research to advance precision medicine.
