Aenor Sawyer, MD

Dr. Sawyer, a practicing Orthopedist at UCSF, has dedicated a significant portion of her career to developing innovative and impactful healthcare solutions. She currently leads Health Innovation + Technology in Ortho (HITO) and is a Fellow in the Rosenman Institute, QB3 Incubator. She is a Clinical Advisor in the Human-Assistive Robotic Technologies (HART) Lab at UC Berkeley and is on the UCSF IT Research Governance Committee and UCOP Telehealth Taskforce. She helped establish the UCSF Center for Digital Health Innovation, the Digital Health track in UCSF’s Catalyst Accelerator and the Cisco/UCSF partnership to develop a Comprehensive Health Interoperability Platform.

 

External leadership roles include External Advisory Board member of the Scripps Translational Sciences Institute, Chair of the International Health Technology Advisory Board for Murdoch Children's Research Institute in Melbourne, Australia and an Associate Editor of Nature’s Digital Medicine Journal. She serves on the Cisco Global Health Advisory Board as advises early stage startups.  For over a decade she has been an Expedition Physician for world-record Ocean Rowers, deploying satellite communication and mobile sensing technologies to provide remote medical coverage. 

 

As a practicing Orthopedist, Dr. Sawyer combines her experience as an Orthopaedist, Physical Therapist, and Exercise Physiologist to provide comprehensive skeletal health care. She is the Director of the UCSF Skeletal Health Service which addresses bone health across the lifespan (pediatric to geriatric) and provides a multidisciplinary approach to the prevention and healing of fractures.   Dr. Sawyer completed her BS in Physical Therapy at CSUF, followed by an MS and MD at UC Davis, Orthopaedic Surgical Residency at Stanford, then Pediatric Orthopaedic Surgery and Sports Medicine Fellowships in the Harvard Combined Orthopaedic Surgery service at Boston Children’s Hospital.
